My review of the book

I give the book, The Rise of a Star LeBron James by David Lee Morgan Jr., copyright 2003, by Gray and Company, Publishers, a 3 out of five star evaluation because of the lack of key details, but because of all the experiences and feelings. The book had so many stories about LeBron's life. It was easy for me to write about him and find character traits. The stories were very in depth. I was easily capable to write about him from all the details and his thoughts. Something that also was really helpful was that they had mini interviews with people that met LeBron. That helped tremendously with traits. the people would say what they thought of Lebron and an example to go with it.
Although, the book left out some major details about his life. In the book it never says when LeBron is born! I had to use dates and what age he was at that time to just determine what year he was born. I don't even know the month or day! another issue I had was that sometime the book went two years ahead and the it went three years back. It got confusing at times, but it wasn't the end of the world. In the end though, the book was fantastic. I would recommend to read it for fun, not for a project. I would also recommend the book to a sports person.

What shaped my life

I was faced with many challenges in my life, but no obstacle was probably as effecting as poverty. Poverty basically shaped my childhood. I was always trying to find a home to stay in and Gloria would try her absolute hardest to pay the bills, but just couldn't. I wanted to help, but I just stayed positive and lived my life. Lucky for me, I had friends that helped me get out of poverty. Because of those friendly neighbors and friends my mom was able to get a job, and eventually got a place to call home.

I don't know what would of happened if I didn't stay with Frankie Walker, one of my mom's friends. His family gave me a new beginning. They taught me how to be genteel, how to play sports, and how to be serious with school work. I had never been taught manners because Mom never had the time to teach. Although when I was at the Walkers house they taught me how to be a gentleman. Mr. Walker got me interested in sports. I played basketball and football. Mr. Walker was always the coach. He lead us to national titles in basketball. In football we were decent. For school the Walkers gave me a totally new attitude about it. They taught to be serious in school and get outstanding grades. They also said with good grades will come super rewards. Basketball saved my life. If I never played a sport I wouldn't be were I was today. No NBA.

Since I was a beast when I played basketball, many pro teams were looking at me. When I got drafted by the Cavaliers I got tons of money. I wasn't poor anymore. It solved one of my most colossal issues, poverty. I couldn't believe what my life would be today if it weren't for the great sport of basketball.

Special or Interesting

What I find to be quite interesting about myself is that in high school my favorite sport was football! Yes, I am not joking. Kind of weird right? You're probably wondering why I chose to play basketball. Well you see I already had a bright future in basketball and I played football just for fun. In the end I am for sure I made the right move.

Something pretty neat about me is that I got my first b-ball set when I was three on Christmas. I would put the hoop at the end of the hallway and then run to the other end of the hallway. Then I would run full speed and dunk the basketball in the hoop. I had a blast.

Character Traits

People say that I persevere because I will never give up! I grew up in poverty and I could have given up on myself, but I didn't. I kept up on my grades and stayed positive. I didn't even have a father during the time so I had no one to talk to except my busy mom. I lived with friends that were nice, but it didn't feel like home. Sometimes I would go to a different house each day. It was difficult, but I persevered.

People also call me athletic because I play in the NBA, the best of the best. I am six feet eight inches and I can dunk on a ten foot rim. I also played football for a long time. I was very talented and could run with the ball. I won tons of sports games and definitely had a blast being an athletic person.

Caring is a word that many people that know me say about me. I always am looking to help someone in need or to help cheer someone up. If anything, I would want safety to everyone and hope they live their lives to the fullest. I would always feel bad about myself when my basketball team lost. I would encourage them and help them succeed. I felt like it was my responsibility to care for the health and happiness of each of my teammates.

Optimistic is a key word that people say describes me. I will always think positive. When I would lose a basketball game I would think of the positives of the game. I would tell everyone that they had a fantastic game and after that I would look forward to the next game that I could win. On my sixteenth birthday my mom bought me a Hummer H2. I loved it. I was smitten. Everyone was suspicious which caused many issues. It was a hard time, but during halftime in one of my games I brought out a remote control Hummer and drove it around. It made everyone have a smile on their face!

When people think of me, they think of a serious dude. I don't joke when it comes to grades. My grades come before everything except my family. One time I had a test for a class and all my friends were going out and having a party. They invited me to it, but my grades were more important so I said no and studied. That happened throughout the year. I knew though to be a superstar you need good grades

Efffect on world or people

Thousands of people have said to me that I have changed their lives. They say that I have popularized the sport of basketball. When I was in high school, basketball didn't get very much attention, especially if you played for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Although, my fans say that ever since I have joined the NBA that basketball has become more popular. Fans say they love to watch me maneuver in and out of opponents. I have changed the whole sport of basketball.

People also say that I am a very good role model. I promote the fact to stay in school and always work your hardest to achieve a goal. The effort you put into your work is what grade you deserve. I always tell kids that if you want to be an athlete, you have to earn it. To earn it you must excel in grades and the sport. Then you'll be a superstar. Parents say that because of my speeches that their children look up to me as a hero. It makes me feel like I have won the Nobel Peace Prize.

My teammates say that I have drastically made their lives fantastic. They said without me, they would of never won any championships. Throughout the season I would easily come up with at least half of our points. If I never went to St. Vincent St. Mary high school, they would not have three division three titles. My teammates appreciate my hard work and effort
