Backround Information

What's up? I'm LeBron James, and I play for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA. I was born in 1984. I lived on Akron's Hickory St. It as a very loving community because we all helped each other in need. My mother, Gloria James, who was 17 wasn't keeping up with her bills. It was a hardship that lasted for a long time. All of my thoughtful neighbors though were there to give me support. I stayed with many families in my childhood. I for surely didn't have what kids have today. I had no toys! You might think that was impossible for me, but it wasn't because I had family around me.

At three years old my grandma, Freda James, died on Christmas Eve. I didn't know until I was older. The next year my house was condemned zt age four. I was forced to move, and I ended up in Elizabeth Park. It was a dangerous place, but it was all we could afford. Mom met new friends and so did I. I wasn't an official resident because I never stayed there long. I would go on and off living with Mom's friends and Elizabeth Park. Of all the people that I stayed with, no other person affected my life as much as Frankie Walker. I stayed with his family when my mom was trying to get a permanent home. They taught me to be respectful, caring, intelligent, and got me interested in sports. I played basketball and football. Mr. Walker was my coach. In basketball he got us to national championships. In high school I played football and basketball. I decided to continue my career in basketball. I was the first overall pick in the 2006 NBA draft. I was drafted to the Cleavland Cavaliers.
